I developed my purpose statement with great care after making the decision to fully commit myself to music.
I learned about purpose statements, (also called guideposts) from the one and only Mr. Quincy Jones in his book, "12 Notes on Life and Creativity." In Note C he explains the importance of verbalizing the type of person you desire to be by writing out your purpose in life based on the character and gifts you possess.
A written statement about my purpose in life & the character I value and demonstrate, act as a compass back to the solid foundation I created for myself. This also reminds me to never allow outside forces or any negativity define me.
Though very personal, I am sharing my purpose statement to set the best intention for my EPK that reflects me at my core.
The same way company's are transparent about their mission and vision, my guideposts clearly communicates who I am, my intentions, what motivates me, and my vision for my future.
MOTIVATION
I strive to create music with the love, passion, dedication and determination that The Great Kobe Bryant channelled to be the best basketball player.
HISTORY OF A SWEET KID, LOW-KEY BEING A LITTLE CREEP (DISCLAIMER: HARMLESS CREEP)
I have been writing songs in my notebooks (which I have saved over the years) since I was 7 years old. Before I could write I just free-styled songs about other kids in my pre-school class, singing them under my breathe during nap time or on the school bus as I looked out the window in full daydream mode.
With all this creative energy and passion inside, I realized I could turn my countless notebooks full of lyrics into songs, if I did the work to learn how to record and mix on my own. I never imagined asking for help (mainly because I was way too shy to sing in front of a single soul). So imagine singing in front of another human person, plus singing lyrics that YOU wrote about the boy from 6th period, who you've been crushing on since he transferred to your social studies class 3 weeks ago, who also doesn't know your name or probably about your existence. Yeah, right. Not happening.
THE SPARK THAT LIT THE FIRE
One summer, right before school was about to start, I was in Lowell, MA visiting my grandparents. My grandma and mom went to the store and my grandfather was in the study downstairs fully gripped by a book he thinks HE was gripping. (You gotta grip the book, don't let the book grip you kids.) Alone in that moment, I felt a spark come over me to push myself to try something I had been so nervous to try. I closed the bedroom door, pulled out a thick and shiny white mac laptop (2007) and began to try this recording thing out for myself. And I did it. My 1st song was in the books.
If you heard that 1st song from 2007 you may have said, this sounds terrible. But guess what? I'm glad you didn't and I'm so grateful that shy and sensitive 16 year old kid never stopped, because with every song she recorded, a sense of fulfillment, peace, excitement, strength, and accomplishment fueled her, giving her new life and purpose.
A PROMISE ON PURPOSE
I discovered my true love is music. I made a commitment to achieving my goals in music, pursue excellence and feed my curiosity through continuous learning, practice, application, and most importantly staying focused no matter how long it takes. I also committed to do all of that good stuff with a positive mental attitude.
I commit to nurture my purest emotions (a child-like/wide-eyed eagerness to create) as a source of power, internal motivation, and approach to life.
I am filled with gratitude to be able to share, I achieved my first songwriting placement on ¥$, Ye, and Ty Dolla Sign's song, 'Fried'.
'Fried' is featured on the 2024 studio album,
'Vultures 2'.

SNEAK PEAK LOOK INSIDE MY PROCESS
8-TIME GRAMMY AWARD WINNER, SONGWRITER, POET & ARTIST
"In my profession it is rare to see a person who can evolve and adapt so rapidly and switch from genre to genre.
Someone who understands the difference between criticize and critique.
Someone who prepares themselves on a daily basis to hear a thousand "no's" to hear one "yes".
The reason I know that it's rare is because I have been that in my career and it has taken me to the highest heights of this industry and it has blessed many people with the gift of music to add to the soundtrack of their lives.
Though all people are unique, she is rare."
UK-BASED ARTIST, ENGINEER & OFFICIAL DJ FOR IAMDDB
"Marium is a diamond in the rough. A true tastemaker of sound from production to songwriting and delivery.
Her music strikes an effortless balance between quality and catchiness that most struggle to achieve.
Plus she's swaggy wit it."
MEMBER OF CHARTED VOCAL GROUP IN THE ROCK & ROLL ERA, "THE PLATTERS"
"Marium is a star on the rise!
Her sense of vocal timing and her smooth lyrical content are only surpassed by her next-level production skills."
